Obituary

TAUNTON – Deolinda F. (Fontes) Mello, 92, longtime resident of Taunton, died April 7, 2016, after a long illness, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late Joseph L. Mello, who predeceased her in May of 2011. They had been married for 59 years.
Born and educated in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary Fontes.
She worked for many years at Haskon. Linda was a kind, loving and giving-of-herself person who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She was very special and held many close to her heart. She loved to travel and go on long day trips looking for gift shops. Linda was also very devoted to her church and involved with many activities.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Simmons of Taunton and her fiancé Robert Dermody; a son, James Mello of CA; a grandson, Jonathan Simmons of Assonet; two great grandchildren, Siarra Simmons and her brother Raphael of New Bedford; a sister, Mary Texiera of Taunton; many nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Raphael Mello of Middleboro; two dear friends, Helen Pontes and Karen Cordeiro, both of Taunton; and also her four legged children, her cats. She was also the sister of the late John Fontes.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, April 13th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 12th from 4 to 7 p.m.
