Obituary

HOLLIS- Stephen Morse, 57, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 with his family by his side after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Boxborough, MA, at the time of his passing he lived in Maine, the state he loved the most.

A graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, Class of 1976, Steve was a framer and the owner of Steve Morse Construction for 35 years. He loved to work hard and was well respected in his trade.

Stephen was an “old soul” who enjoyed living life simply and walking his own path. His own words, “Still water runs deep; fast water, shallow” perfectly describes his strong, quiet, gentle and caring nature. In addition to his work he had many loves and took pleasure in many experiences that most take for granted: country music, morning sunrises and a hot cup of coffee, time spent around a campfire, the rain, walking through the woods and taking in all the sights and sounds of nature, driving down long country roads looking for wildlife, fishing in his bare feet in the early morning before anyone was up, and just being outdoors in his beloved Alexander, Maine. He also loved NASCAR and when he wasn’t at the races, Sunday was his day to enjoy it on television.

Most of all Steve loved his family and those in his life, always caring and willing to do whatever was needed. That quality remained with him to the end, when his only concern were his loved ones. He left far too soon for a man who had much more life ahead of him, and there is consolation in the truth that he was rich in family, friends and experiences. He will be missed by all who have had the privilege of sharing life with him.

The son of the late Warren and Ann Morse, and brother of the late Warren Morse, Jr., Steve is survived by two sons, Stephen Morse, Jr. of Tamworth, NH and Timothy Morse of Leominster, MA; a grandson Timmy Morse Jr.; a sister Brenda Nichols and husband Lance of Boxborough; three brothers, David Morse and wife Joanne of Shirley, MA, Scott Morse and wife Johanna of Stow, MA, and Lee Morse and wife Lisa of Lunenburg, MA.; a sister-in-law Lynn Morse of Shirley; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. In recent years Steve shared a special relationship with Charlene Fecteau, lovingly seeing one another through both the good times and the more challenging days.
