Obituary

Armand "Monk" Lavoie, 82, of Dartmouth died July 2, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Doris M. (Johnson) Lavoie.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Alfonse and Laura (Bibeau) Lavoie, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Mr. Lavoie was a communicant of St. George Church in Westport.
He was formerly employed by the Fall River Carpenters Union Local #1305 for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Lavoie served in the US Army during World War II participating in the battles of Rome Arno and North Appennines. He was the recipient of the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal.
He enjoyed wood working and bowling and bowled in the Wednesday Senior League in New Bedford.
Survivors include his companion, Irene M. Bergeron of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Lauraine Estrella, and her husband Raymond, of Westport and Juliette Danis of Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews including Audrey Almond and Valerie Leavitt, both of New Bedford.
He was the brother of the late Ernest Lavoie, Henry Lavoie, Alfonse Lavoie, Laura Desilets, Beatrice Pickinn, Jeanette Britland and Doris Cadrin.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Wednesday, July 6th at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church, 569 Sanford Rd, Westport at 10 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Tuesday, July 5th from 4-8 PM.
Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery.
