Patricia A. (Libby) McNeil, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following an extended illness. She was 59 years old.
Patty was born in Boston on February 22, 1957, a daughter of Patricia A. (Reardon) McGrath and William McGrath. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1975. Patty worked for over 7 years as a Medical Assistant for Massachusetts General Hospital at the Bunker Hill Health Center in Charlestown. She enjoyed reading, knitting, ceramics and most of all in her life she dedicated herself to her 2 daughters and her grandchildren.
Patty is the beloved wife of 35 years to W. Brian McNeil. She is the devoted mother of Sharleen McNeil of Charlestown and Kaileigh McNeil of Charlestown and step-mother of Briana McNeil of Charlestown, Gary McNeil of Charlestown and the late Douglas McNeil and Billy McNeil. She is the loving Nana to Quinlan, Aidan, Alanna and 6 step-grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. She is the beloved daughter of William McGrath and the late Patricia A. (Reardon) McGrath. She is the beloved sister of Paula Tirro, Joanne Coleman, Thomas McGrath, Shawna McGrath and the late Charles Libby. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Patty's Funeral on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 2 to 6 P.M. in the funeral home.
