Macnamara, Antoinette (Toni) Beckers, of Wayland, formerly of Weston, died peacefully on April 2, 2016, she was 86. Beloved wife of the late Robert W. Macnamara Esq. Loving mother of Lili Macnamara of Sudbury, Toni Yacobian of Boston, Robert W. Macnamara, Jr of Sudbury, W. Kurt Macnamara of Boston, Susan Martinez of Alexandria, VA. Revered mother in law of Jennifer Macnamara, Ramiro Martinez, Michael Yacobian, Kimberly Macnamara and Jose Gonzales. Cherished grandmother of Michael Ara, Timothy, Katherine, Christopher, Brinley, William B., Lily, Bayley, Emma, Will and Robert III.
Born in Manhattan, to the late William K. and Annadel Beckers, she graduated from The Masters School, Dobbs Ferry and Barnard College. She was ahead of her time; living and working in Paris, traveling the world for American Express. Toni will be remembered most for her generous spirit, brilliant mind and hard work for the causes she cared about most. While she was raising five young children, she was a pioneer in early childhood education and the Boston Children’s Hospital League. Throughout her life, Toni was an avid skier, golfer, equestrian, and swimmer. She loved needlepoint, played bridge and loved gardening. Longtime member of the Weston Golf Club and Mid Ocean Club, Bermuda.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) Wellesley, MA on Friday April 8 at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Julia Church, Weston at 10:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Thursday from 5-8pm in the funeral home. Interment Private in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
