Elizabeth A. "Bette" McNiff, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Glenridge Nursing Care Center in Medford. She was 83 years of age.
Bette was born in Boston on January 12, 1933, a daughter of the late Joseph L. McNiff and Ann G. (Jenness) McNiff. She grew up in Charlestown. Bette was a retired employee of the Registry of Motor Vehicles for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She was a member of the Dominican Laity 3rd Order and associate of Dominican Sisters of Peace. Bette was a Eucharistic Minister and lecturer at St. Anthony's Chapel at Arch Street in Boston and at St. Mary-St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Charlestown.
Bette is the beloved sister of Joseph L. McNiff and his wife Alice of Woburn and Leo D. McNiff and his wife Jane of Scituate. She is the cherished aunt of Terrence McNiff and his wife Petrine of Methuen, Joseph McNiff of Malden, Paul McNiff and his wife Liz, Karen Hillner, and the late Leo D. McNiff. She is the great aunt that seemed like a second grandmother to Kelly, Sean, and Megan McNiff of Methuen.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bette's visiting hours on Monday morning, April 4, 2016 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial will be at New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bette's loving memory to St. Mary-St. Catherine of Siena Church, Parish Center, 46 Winthrop St. Charlestown, Mass. 02129
