Mary E. Fitzgerald, 84, of Wilcox County, Georgia, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Lebanon Baptist Church, Wilcox County, with Rev. Chuck Taylor, Rev. Terry Cole and Dr. Robuck Burch officiating. Interment will follow in Fitzgerald Family Cemetery, Wilcox County. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9 on Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was born October 18, 1920, in Desota, Georgia, to the late John Adam and Mattie Harrell Fitzgerald. She lived in Wilcox County since 1957 from Fitzgerald and was a former resident of Ocilla. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a homemaker, a former employee of Fitzgerald Cotton Mills and Dixie Peanut Company. She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church, the WMU and the Ola King Circle. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, known as “Big Mama”. She was an avid gardener and fisherman. She enjoyed sewing for her family and making trips to Florida.
Mrs. Fitzgerald is survived by her daughters: Shirley Pahl of Canton, Mary K. Dominy and Joanne Boggus, both of Fitzgerald and Linda Sue Cole of Abbeville; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brummie Fitzgerald, four sisters and one brother.
