New Bedford- Antonio Dorvalino DaCosta, aged 59 years, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Lucia C. (Melo) DaCosta. He was the father of David DaCosta and his wife Kim DaCosta of New Bedford and Debra DaCosta of New Bedford. He was the stepfather of Steve DaPonte and Antonio DaPonte both of New Bedford, and Adriana Freitas of Acushnet. He was the grandfather of Trevor, Kristen and Mary-Kate DaCosta. Mr. DaCosta was the brother of John M. DaCosta and Deolinda DoBem.
Mr. DaCosta was born in St. Michael, Lagoa, Azores and lived in this area since 1958. He was the son of the late Antone and Isabel (Morais) DaCosta . He was the proprietor at Tony’s Bakery. Mr. DaCosta was formerly a member of the Holy Ghost of Horseneck, he also enjoyed listening to music and coaching, playing and watching soccer.
Mr. DaCosta's funeral will begin at the funeral home on Friday, July 1, 2005 at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Rivet St, New Bedford; Visiting hours will be Thursday, June 30, 2005 from 5 - 8 P.M.. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery.
