Dorothy L. (Campbell) Montague, 82, of New Bedford died March 22, 2016 at Phillip Hulitar Hospice House in Providence after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late James M. Montague, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Edward L. and Edna (Gwynn) Campbell, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Montague was a stewardess and an active member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church.
She was formerly employed by the West End Day Nursery.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly A. Montague of New Bedford; a son, James M. Montague, III and his wife Nicole of New Bedford; a son-in-law, Richard Roderick of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren, Patrice Roderick, Tregg Roderick and Damien Montague; a great-granddaughter, Kendra Roderick; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Elizabeth L. Roderick and the sister of the late Walter "Soupy" Campbell, Wayne Campbell, Sheldon Campbell, Robert Campbell, Edward Campbell and Gloria Houtman.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 9 AM in the Bethel A.M.E. Church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 25th from 3-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
