Mrs. Anna C. Malfa, a longtime Wilmington resident passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 18, 2016, following a short illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen J. Malfa. Born in Boston she was one of three children of the late John R. and Violet L. (Pearson) Benner.
Anna was formerly of Cambridge before she and her late husband Stephen, settled in Wilmington in 1964. Anna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Nothing gave her more joy than caring for the needs of her family and making sure that her home was always a warm and welcoming place for her family to gather. In her leisure time she enjoyed working on puzzles and was always looking forward to her next shopping excursion.
Anna is survived by her devoted children; Beverly Masone of Tewksbury and her late husband Anthony, Joseph Malfa of Wilmington and his late wife Roberta, Sandra Morse of Wilmington, Stephen Malfa Jr. and his wife Paula of Tewksbury. Anna was the cherished grandmother of Anthony Masone Jr., Stephen Masone, Marc Masone, DeAnn Butler, Joseph Malfa Jr., David Morse Jr., Shelly Cote, Stephanie Gary, Nicole and Brittany Malfa. She is also survived by 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Sister of Kenneth Benner of Wilmington and the late Mildred Buckley.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service conducted in the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home 374 Main St., Wilmington, Wednesday, March 23rd, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Anna's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
