Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 9am. Funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-8pm. Obituary Information
Jean M. (Govoni) Cotter died Tuesday morning at the Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. Born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late John L. and Mildred V. (Guinasso) Govoni, she had been a lifelong resident spending many of those years living on the East Side. She was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1950.
For many years Jean had been employed in the Distribution Department of the Boston Globe and at the time of her death she was employed by St. Bridget’s School in the After School Program. She was active in the Christ the King Parish, formerly St. Colman Church; headed the Ministry of Consolation, was involved with the Hospitality Group, for many years she was a religious education teacher and directed the Children’s Christmas Pagent and Choir. She was a Holy Union Associate, a board member of SeniorNet at Massasoit Community College, a member of the 1950 Class Reunion Committee of Brockton High School and a member of the TOPS Group.
She is survived by two daughters Debra Cotter of Brockton and Kathleen Ruscetta and her husband Robert of Whitman, one son Ron Cotter and his wife Gina of Stoughton, three brothers John Govoni of Woburn, Frank Govoni of California, Bill Govoni of Brockton, a sister Linda Boucher of Onset, and several nieces and nephews.
She was the wife of the late George L. Cotter, Jr.
