In Taunton, March 19, 2016 Edmund J. McDermott, Age 91, passed away peacefully in his home while surrounded by his loving family. Edmund was preceded in death by his devoted wife Eleanor (Ryan) McDermott. He was born in Attleboro, the son of the late John & Theresa (McCann) McDermott. Edmund resided in Taunton most of his life. He served his country honorably during WWII in the U.S. Navy. Edmund worked as a silver spinner for the former F.B. Rogers Co. and following his employment there worked for the City of Taunton for the cemetery Department, where he served as commissioner. He was a member of the Taunton Elks and enjoyed gardening and yard work, trips to Hampton and Swifts Beach and going to Ireland and Myrtle Beach with his wife. Edmund was a devoted husband and father who always thought of his family first. He is survived by his children Ginny Starvish of Berkley, Jim McDermott of Taunton, Maureen Beaudoin and her husband Richard of Raynham, Kathleen Andrews and her husband Paul of Raynham and Kelly Pettine and her husband David of Taunton. Also his grandchildren Paula Starvish Borges and her husband Joseph of Raynham, Bill Starvish Jr. of Berkley, Marc Beaudoin and his wife Kristen of Taunton, Kevin Beaudoin of Plymouth, Ryan Beaudoin of Providence, RI, Patrick and Colleen Andrews both of Raynham and his three great grandchildren Dylan and Kylie Borges and Zachary Beaudoin. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas McDermott. Edmund also leaves several nieces and nephews and many friends. A funeral home service will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. Taunton, Ma 02780 on Thursday, March 24th at 11 am. Relatives and friends are also invited to visiting hours prior to the service from 10-11am. Burial and military honors will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
