Mr. Edward M. “Big Ed” MacKillop, a resident of Medford, formerly of Charlestown and beloved husband of Roseann C. (Leonard) passed away, suddenly, at his home on Friday morning, March 18, 2016. He was 74 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 12, 1941, he was the beloved son of the late Donald and Veronica (VonBergen) MacKillop. Big Ed was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology and had also attended North Eastern University. He had been employed as a Draftsman by Stone & Webster Engineering in Boston, for many years. In his spare time, Mr. MacKillop enjoyed being an avid Boston sports fan, always routing for his home teams. He also loved doing crossword puzzles, soccer, and bowling. Big Ed loved raising his vegetable garden at his home in Medford. He will be dearly missed.
Besides his beloved wife, Roseann, he is survived by his loving children; Lauren C. Turner and her companion John P. Sabbio of Cambridge, Michael P. MacKillop of Medford and Edward L. MacKillop of Medford, siblings; Frances and her husband Warren Riley of Randolph, Mary MacKillop of Randolph and Daniel MacKillop of Revere and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father-in-law of the late Michael N. Turner.
His funeral will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 9 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
