Rene P. Brasley, 81, of 303 Old Lakeshore Road died on Monday afternoon, June 27, 2005 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief illness.
Rene was the son of the late Philippe and Blanche (Gagnon) Brasley. He was born in Pembroke, NH on January 19, 1924. Coming from Manchester, NH in 1988, he resided in Laconia until 1998 when he moved to Gilford. He spent the winter months at his home in Avon Park, Florida.
Prior to his retirement in 1987 he was the Supervisor of Maintenance at the State Armory in Manchester, NH. Rene was a WWII Army Veteran serving as a Corporal in the 157th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division in Sicily, Naples, Rome, Italy. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Laconia, and Our Lady of Grace Church in Avon Park, Florida. He was a member of VFW Post 2860, and American Legion Post 28 both in Suncook. Rene held an Honary Life Membership in the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 428, and was a 4th Degree member of Monsignor Buckley 0627 Assembly of Concord, New Hampshire. He was also Grand Night of the Father Routhier Council No. 4668 in Suncook, NH.
Rene was an avid golfer and a member of the Grasshoppers of New Hampshire. He built radio controlled model airplanes and was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and flew with the Silver Eagles of the Heartland R/C Club in Wachula, Florida.
Rene was predeceased by his first wife, Irene (Mercier) Brasley in 1986. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Leo Brasley, Donald Brasley, and Monsignor Lucian Brasley, and one sister Irene Daneault.
Rene is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jacqueline (Smith) Fecteau Brasley of Gilford, one step-sons, Donald J. Fecteau of Laconia. One step-daughter, Mary Fecteau McIntire of Belmont. Three brothers, William, Gerard, and Roland Brasley all of Suncook. Five sisters, Dora Martel and Rita Hamel both of Suncook, Constance Towle of Barnstead, Jeanne Dow of Wayne Maine, and Helen Cote of Caanan, NH. Five step-grandchildren, Sonsa (Fecteau) Paradise of Tamworth, Michelle Fecteau of Medford, MA, Jaimal and Danielle Fecteau both of Laconia, and Ryan Mcintire of Laconia. One great grandson, Chase McIntire of Laconia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, July 1, 2005 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue Laconia at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Adrien R. Longchamps pastor of the church celebrated the mass. There were no visiting hours. Family and friends were invited to attend. Burial will take place at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen at a later date.
