Obituary

Faye Ridley Massey, 92, of Tifton went to be with her Lord Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Roe and Rev. Paul Thomas officiating. Mrs. Massey will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, March 18, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Massey will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Mark Stewart, Dr. Morris Davis, Ralph Rigdon, Floyd Beard, Bob Lynch, Tom Maze Bob Burnett and Jim Sinclair will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bible Learners Sunday School Class and Joyful Sound Choir of Tifton’s First Baptist Church

Born August 9, 1923 in Appling County (Baxley), Mrs. Massey was the daughter of the late M.N. “Nat” Ridley and Ethel Hall Ridley. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, W. G. “Bill” Massey, who died in 2003; her son, Tony Curtis Massey, who died in 2012, and her brother, M.N. “Nat” Jr. Ridley, who died in 2006.

Mrs. Massey had been an active member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church since 1941, where she taught Sunday school in the Primary Department and in Department 2, where she also served as secretary, had been a member of the Bible Learners Sunday School Class for 42 years and a charter member of the Joyful Sound Choir.

She was a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star and had received her 50-year membership certificate and a member of the Past Matrons Club. She was a member and officer of the Twentieth Century Library Club and had received her 50-year membership pin, and was Chairman of the Tallulah Falls School for the Club.

Mrs. Massey was a member and officer of the Trillium Garden Club and had received the Distinguished Service Award in 1997 for her outstanding service and achievement in the Garden Club activities.

Mrs. Massey was a homemaker. She loved her Lord, her family, her church, her Sunday school class, her choir and helping others.

Mrs. Massey is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry Grady Massey and wife Brenda of Tifton; two grandchildren, William Grady “Billy” Massey of Tifton and Beth Massey Branton of Deland, Florida; and four great grandchildren, Keyleigh Massey and William Grady “Trey” Massey III of Tifton and Mikey Martin Branton and Courtney Branton of Deland, Florida.
