James Waterman Meehan, Jr., 54, of Winchester, died March 14 with his two children by his side. Born in Arlington, Jim was the beloved first son of James and Patricia Meehan of Merritt Island, FL, and the big brother of Kamm G. Meehan, and his wife Cathy, of Arlington, and Joshua P. Meehan of Naples, FL. He leaves behind his cherished children, Samantha Meehan and Maxwell Meehan of Winchester. He is also survived by his nieces Gabriella and Karla Meehan, and his wife Karen.
Jim went to Arlington High School and Wilbraham Monson Academy and then received his degree in arboriculture from UMass Amherst’s Stockbridge School of Agriculture. He was an expert arborist, avid fisherman and outdoorsman, and an excellent cook. He also loved tinkering, having adventures and telling tales. His friends and family meant the world to him. And, most of all, he loved his children.
A Memorial Service for Jim will be held Saturday, March 19th, at 2 p.m. at the Winchester Unitarian Society, 478 Main St., followed by a light reception. Anyone with a story to tell about Jim is encouraged to do so.
