BEVERLY: Anita M. (Abate) Meuse, 87, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, March 14, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Richard S. Meuse.
Born in Beverly on February 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Adolfo and Lillian (Longobardi) Abate. A lifelong resident of Beverly, Anita was a graduate of Beverly High School.
Anita was employed as a payroll clerk at the former Unite Shore Machinery Corp. in Beverly for several years. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she enjoyed vacationing and especially loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and her sisters. She was also a lifelong communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.
In addition to her loving husband of sixty-one years, she is survived by two daughters, Linda Klemis of Beverly and Sandra Roub and her husband, Jeff of Salem; a son, Gary Meuse of Beverly; five grandchildren, Mike Klemis and his wife, Jenna of Gilbert, AZ, David Klemis of Medford, Christine Klemis of Beverly, Sheri Durgin and her husband, Justin of Salem and Kelly Roub of Peabody; two sisters, Lee Cavossa and Florence LeClerc both of Beverly; a brother-in-law, Ronald Meuse and his wife, Elaine of Saugus and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Aurelia “Curly” Pelonzi and Louise Grondin and three brothers, Fernando “Al” Abate, Peter Abate and Dominic “Mickey” Abate.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
