Obituary

Frank Allen Wilcox Morrison, 97, of Mystic passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born in Whitinsville, MA, the son of William Dunnigan and Mabel Allen (Wilcox) Morrison.

He grew up in Massachusetts, graduating from North Quincy High School and Bentley School of Accounting. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945. He worked as General Comptroller, Board of Global Ministries of the World Board of Missions of the United Methodist Church in New York City.

He was married to his beloved wife, Dorothy Ann (Peckham) Morrison for 63 years. She predeceased him in September of 2006.

Frank was the well-loved patriarch of the family and will be greatly missed by his two children, daughter Anne Morrison and son Robert Morrison and his wife Laurel, his grandchildren, John Polizzio, Mark Polizzio and his fiancé Andrea Christiano, Jessica Morrison and her husband Paul Theriault, and his two great grandchildren, Jackson and Libbie Theriault. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their children.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his two siblings, Dorothy (Morrison) Kinghorn and William Dunnigan Morrison Jr.

Frank was very active in the First Methodist Church in Stoughton, MA, and the First United Methodist Church in Mystic. He and Dorothy spent their happy retirement years at Lord's Point tending their gardens and blueberry bushes and hosting many friends and relatives. The family has wonderful memories of those times. Frank and Dorothy were also avid UCONN Women's Basketball fans and loved to attend numerous Scottish Games.

For the past year, Frank was extremely happy living at Academy Point in Mystic where he made wonderful new friendships. The family wishes also to acknowledge and thank the staff who cared so much for him.

Frank's family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 15 from 5 to 8pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church, 23 Willow Street, Mystic, immediately followed by burial in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, or the First United Methodist Church of Mystic.
