Carol A. Manchester, 61, of Tiverton, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was wife of the late William Atkinson.
Carol was the loving daughter of Everett C. "Carl" and Nancy L. (Dwelly) Manchester, Sr. of Tiverton. She was a lifelong resident of Tiverton and a graduate of Tiverton High School. She was a waitress all of her life working at the former Sunderlands in Tiverton, Barnacle Bills in Portsmouth, The Liberal Club in Fall River and most recently, Bay View Retirement Home and the Adams House, both in Fall River.
Including her parents, she leaves 2 brothers: Everett C. "Pete" Manchester, Jr. and his wife Donna of Tiverton and Alan D. Manchester of Tiverton; a niece: Jennifer Manchester and her husband Jesse Reid of Tiverton; a nephew: Peter Manchester and his wife Kerstin of Tiverton; an uncle: Lawrence Manchester and his wife Debbie of FL; and her late aunt: Ruth D. Wordell of Little Compton; her dear friend: Ernest St. Laurent of Tiverton; along with several cousins; many friends; and her 3 cats Eric, Oreo and Chippy, whom she loved dearly.
Carol also leaves her 4 step-sons: William M. Atkinson of FL, Duane M. Atkinson of RI, Michael W. Atkinson of MA and Barry S. Atkinson of RI; 2 step-daughters: Donna J. Morgan of RI and Vivianne D. LaGue of RI; and 16 step-grandchildren.
Carol's family would extend their sincere thanks to her caregivers; her brother Pete, Donna, Jennifer, Ernest and Joanne as well as the Hospice Care team from the VNA of Newport and Bristol Counties, especially Nurses Jane Ouellette and Ann Lewis for their tender care.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton at 11:00 A.M.
