Evelyn M. Huss, 87 of Chester, NH, died Saturday, June 25, 2005 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. Mrs. Huss was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 15, 1918, a daughter of the late Oliver John and Mary (Geckle) Mock. She was a resident of Chester for 16 years, formerly living in Milford, PA. Mrs. Huss worked as a hairdresser in Milford for 15 years. She then worked as a nurses aide for St. Francis Hospital in Port Jervis, NY for 15 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Milford. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, art and painting and also enjoyed spending time with family and friends on the family farm in NJ.
She is survived by a son, Michael J. Huss and his wife Julie of Chester, eight grandchildren, Jon Huss, Katie Huss, Irvin Huss, Darrin Huss, Shara Huss, Megan Huss, Schar Huss, Erik Huss, two sisters, Catherine Shelly of Telford, PA, Nancy Brown of Daytona Beach Shores, FL. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William Huss in 1990, her son, Irvin Huss in 2004, a sister, Dorothy Rizutto, two brothers, Jack and Almon "Bud" Mock and a brother in law, Michael M. Huss.
Following cremation a graveside service will be held in the Great Hill Cemetery, Chester at a later date. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is in charge of the arrangements.
