Obituary

GROVELAND: Howard H. Milaschewski, 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 29, 2016. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jeanette H. (Koppenaal) Milaschewski for 66 years.
Born in Oradell, New Jersey on October 18, 1926, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Helen E. (Messler) Milaschewski. He had resided in Washington Township, New Jersey for 52 years before moving to Groveland in 2006.
He was the devoted father of William Milaschewski and his wife Jane of Beverly, Robert Milaschewski and his wife Donna of Fletcher, VT, and Janet Sunkenberg and her husband David of Groveland. Loving grandfather of Sara Durkin and her husband Derek of Groton, MA, Thomas Milaschewski and his wife Sarah of Beverly, Kyle Milaschewski and his wife Rebecca of Sharon, VT, Rachel Milaschewski of Portsmouth, NH, Kathryn Milaschewski and her fiancé William Giguere of Boston, Daniel Milaschewski of Beverly, Peter Sunkenberg of Groveland and Thomas Sunkenberg of Groveland. Great-grandfather of Makenna and Olivia Milaschewski. Devoted brother-in-law of Geraldine Koppenaal and her spouse, Catherine Schutt.
Howard had a strong relationship with God and lived a life which was focused on devotion to his family and faith. He proudly served his country as a US Army Ranger with the 6th Battalion in The Philippine Islands during World War II and was honorably discharged in November 1946.
A celebration of Howard’s life and a time for sharing of memories will be held on Saturday, March 5th at Groveland Fairways, 156 Main Street, Groveland from 2 to 5pm. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment with military honors will be held in the George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, New Jersey in a private service that will follow.
While in a medical hospital during his time in The Philippines with the US Army, Howard was greatly helped by the care of the Salvation Army. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army, 25 Shawmut Rd., Canton, MA 02021.
