LIBURDI- Of Everett, formerly of Revere, June 22nd, Francis M. "Butch". Devoted husband of Carmela (Forgione) Liburdi of Everett and the late Helen A. (Giancola) Liburdi. Beloved father of Anthony Liburdi and his wife Diane of Everett and Paul Liburdi and his wife Ann Marie of Saugus. Loving step-father of Jeanette Citro and Mildred Colantonio both of Revere, Louise Blake of Chelsea, Louis Tracia of Arkansas, Judith Catanzariti of Revere, Thomas Tracia of California, Michael Tracia of Chelsea and the late Anthony Tracia. Dear brother of Rita Green of Weymouth and Mary Liburdi of New Jersey. Also lovingly survived by 31 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel, 302 Elm Street, Everett on Friday, June 24th at 1 PM.

Born in Boston, Francis, at 81, passed away at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford early Wednesday morning after a long illness.

A resident of Revere for most of his life he was currently residing in Everett. For over 35 years, "Butch" worked as a forman for Atlantic Steel in Everett and then in the same capacity for 12 years until his retirement at Polorized of New England also in Everett. He was a longtime member of Beachmont VFW Post 6712.

A staff Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II, he served as a Squad Leader with the 28th U.S. Infantry Division in combat against the enemy in Normandy, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. He led patrols on special reconnaissance missions to obtain information concerning opposing German units. He was also in charge of ambush patrols, the purpose of which was to bring in enemy soldiers to obtain information as to the type of equipment and strength of the enemy troops.

Awarded the Purple Heart, he was discharged for active service on October 20th, 1945 at Camp Sibert, Alabama.
