Dr. Herman E. Carr Jr. MD. 84, of Needham died on Friday June 17, 2005 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton. A graduate from St. Anslem’s College and Boston University School of Medicine in 1946. He married Iris Julia Constantine in September of 1947 and shortly after served as a Medical Officer on the USS New Jersey during the Korean conflict. Receiving the Korean Service Medal with 2 stars he left the service in 1953. Dr. Carr was the Assistant Professor of Medical Science at the Boston University School of Medicine, publishing many papers on hypertension and emergency medicine. He practiced medicine at Children’s Hospital, Clinton Hospital, Health Stop, Hanscom Air Force Base and the Post Rd. Medical Center in Sudbury. Devoted and loving husband of Iris (Constantine) Carr he is also survived by his three children; Christopher C. Carr Esq., Geoffrey H. Carr, Alexandra J. Baker and his nine grandchildren. Private graveside services were held the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday June 20, 2005. A poet, lover of music and the arts, science and his human touch of medicine and writer of numerous poems."I shall walk this way again,To trace these steps I take today, and in the old way, lift my face up with rain."
