Bibe “Bob” Harold Gagnon, 61, of Lockes Hill Road died Friday, June 17, 2005 at his residence. Born in Manchester, NH on June 10, 1944 he was the son of Harold A.Gagnon, and the late Julia A. (Tullgren) Gagnon, and had been a resident of Gilford for most of his life. At an early age his family moved to Gilford where they built the Silver Sands Motel and Marina and continue to operate today.
Bibe was a graduate of Laconia High School. He received Business Degrees at New Hampshire Technical School, and New Hampshire College. He also served in the Army National Reserve for 5 years. Upon completion of college Bibe became the owner and managed Silver Sands Marina for over 35 years.
Bibe was an avid lover of motor sports having raced snowmobiles, off-shore powerboats, and sports cars. In recent years he has spent his winters in Jupiter, Florida where he enjoyed boating, fishing, and sports car events. He was involved in the New Hampshire Marine Trades Association and was a member of the Sports Car Club of America.
Bibe is survived by his father Harold A. Gagnon of Laconia, his only son, Christopher B. Gagnon and his wife Jennifer of Belmont, two grandchildren Nolan and Kaitryn Gagnon of Belmont. His companion, Patricia Bennett of Gilford, and his former wife of 27 years, Catherine Gagnon of Gilford. A half-sister, Marlene Osborne of Gilmanton, and half-brother, Garrett Gagnon of Loudon.
Visiting hours were held on Thursday, June 23, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia. A graveside service was held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Belknap Mountain Road, Gilford, on Friday, June 24, 2005 at 11:00 am. Family and friends were invited to attend.
