Maureen L. (Doherty) Moysey, a 20 year resident of Winthrop and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at her home in Winthrop following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was 73 years old.
Maureen was born in Somerville on March 9, 1942, a daughter of the late John J. Doherty and Grace E. (McKenny) Doherty. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Cathedral High School in Boston in 1959. Maureen dedicated herself as a Home Health Aide with Boston Visiting Nurses Association for over 25 years.
Maureen is the beloved wife of 47 years to the late James M. Moysey who only passed away on August 1, 2015 from ALS. She is the devoted mother of James H. Moysey and his wife Maura Flaherty of Brighton. She is the beloved sister of the late Marie Sweeney, Jack Doherty, Eddie Doherty, Leo Doherty, Bob Doherty and Francis X. Doherty. She is the loving aunt to Sheila Sweeney of Winthrop, Patricia Doherty-Hennessey of Seabrook, New Hampshire, Garrett Doherty of Connecticut, Casey Doherty of Hyannis and several other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Maureen's Funeral on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 8:30 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St. Winthrop at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Winthrop Cemetery, Winthrop. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
