Richard Augustin Belval, age 59, of Pequot Drive, Gales Ferry, died Monday at Backus Hospital.
He was born in New London on March 28, 1946 the son of Dorothy S. (Bloomer) Belval of Groton and the late Octave A. Belval. He attended Marist College in Framingham, MA and graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University in 1969.
Richard was employed for over 33 years as a purchasing agent at General Dynamics (E.B.) and was Co-owner of Pequot Appliance, Inc.
In his spare time, he enjoyed being by the water, fishing, boating, and his family “legacy”. He will be dearly missed by all.
He was the beloved husband of Gloria (Jakobsohn) whom he married on September 7, 1968. He was also a devoted father to his three children; Robert Augustin Belval and his wife Jaime, Raymond Alexander Belval, and Renee Angela Belval; brother to David B. Belval; and grandfather to Tatiana Elizabeth Belval.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, Groton Long Point Road, Groton on Thursday at 11am. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.
