Obituary

Antonetta Delores Matteo passed away on February 12th at the age of 93 at home in Smithfield. She was the wife of Ernest L. Matteo, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on November 11, 2015.

Born in Cumberland, Ann was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Coletta) Bucci.

Ann was a secretary working for the government at the Pentagon during World War II and at Quonset Point until her retirement when she stayed home to raise her children. Ann also partnered with her husband Ernie and was a familiar face at Matteo’s Farm where the family ran a successful pick your own apple business until the late nineties.

Ann was the loving mother of Donna Olson and her husband, Richard and Carol Abruzzi and her husband, David all of Smithfield. She is predeceased by her son, Anthony. She was the beloved grandmother of Andrew Olson and Elizabeth Abruzzi. She is also survived by her sisters, Florence Spaziano, age 100 and Pauline Schnelle of Cumberland and her many adored nieces, nephews and friends.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial, to which friends and family are invited at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visitation Tuesday from 4-7 PM. The family extends its gratitude to All Is Well Home Care and Gentiva Hospice for their dedicated help and support during Ann’s illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s memory to Spurwink, RI, an organization serving adults with developmental and behavioral disabilities at One Spurwink Place Cranston, RI 02920.
