Alice I. Melanson, age 78, died on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Laconia Rehabilitation Center in Laconia, NH. She was born on December 11, 1937 in Manchester, NH, the daughter of the late Albion and Gertrude (Bowen) Robie.
Alice worked various jobs throughout her life, but she will be remembered most for being a wonderful homemaker and adopted mother to all. Alice was also an American Legion member for the past 33 years.
Members of the family include her three sons, Robert Davis and his partner Dean of Manchester, Fred Elliott and his wife Penny of Laconia and Frank Melanson of Manchester; two daughters, Cheryl and her husband Steve Cushman of Port St. Lucie, FL and Eva Melanson of Laconia and one brother Frank Robie of Silver City, NM. Alice also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her first husband Robert Elliott and her second husband Bernard Melanson, a daughter Frances C. Melanson and three sisters, Mabel Carlson, Frances Haletky and Grace Dinsman.
All are welcome to attend a memorial calling hour on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, using the carriage house entrance.
A memorial service will start promptly at 2:00 PM, also at the Funeral Home.
A private burial will take place in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Alice's name to David's House, PO Box 660, Lebanon, NH 03766. David's House provides a home-away-from-home and support for families with children receiving treatment through the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
