Domenic R. DeFazio, “Bro” “Uncle Dom” died Friday night at his Woburn home surrounded by a loving family. He was 72.
Dom was born and raised in Boston’s North End, the son of the late Joseph and the late Carmella (Finocchiaro) DeFazio. He served with the Army during the Korean War. Upon his return to civilian life he worked as a truck driver with the Teamsters, Local 25. A resident of Woburn for 39 years, Dom enjoyed golfing and boating. He was an avid fan of horse racing and enjoyed regular trips to Suffolk Downs and Rockingham Park. In recent years Dom became enthusiastic about his yard and took great pride in his gardening and landscaping efforts. Above all he was a family man who was dedicated to his wife, daughters and grandsons. He had special relationships with his whole family and a large circle of friends.
He was the beloved husband of Frances “Honey” (Giardina). He was a devoted father to Camille Lovasco and her late husband Salvatore of Georgetown, Janice Picklus and her husband Michael of East Bridgewater, Donna Morgan and her husband David of Augusta, Montana. He was a loving grandfather to Jason, Tyler, Travis, and Tanner. He was a dear brother to Anna Mae Fiorentino of Everett, and the late Marie “Chickie” Ruocco. He also leaves many loving brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and friends.
His funeral will be from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Tuesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family, Monday 5 - 9. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
