MURPHY, James P. "Jake"- Of Everett, formerly of Malden, January 27th. Devoted husband for 35 years to Frances M. (Warner). Beloved father of Peter Murphy of Malden, Allen Murphy of East Boston and Cecelia Murphy of Everett. Loving brother of Christine Murphy of Malden, Thomas Murphy and his wife Julie of Revere and Daniel Murphy and his wife Kathleen of Saugus. Lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street, (Maplewood Square) MALDEN on Monday, February 1st at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in The Immaculate Conception Church, 487 Broadway, Everett at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment with miltary honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Expressions of sympathy in his name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge, MA 02140 or to a charity of your choice.
Born in Boston and a resident of Malden for many tears until moving to Everett, "jake" passed away at the Chelsea Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wednesday morning at the age of 67. After graduating Malden High School, he entered the United States Navy and was deployed on the USS Independence and USS Wasp during the Vietnam War. After being discharged from active service, he gegan studies at Bunker Hill Community College and then on to UMass Boston where he received a degree in computer science. He was a co-founder of Veterans Computer, which refurbished donated computers for the poor, volunteered extensively in the Everett community mostly in the schools and librarys and was a volunteer at Malden Access TV
