Antone Gomes, 83, of New Bedford died Saturday June 11, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Wareham, son of the late Antone and Marion (Gomes) Gomes, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater campaign ribbon.
Survivors include two brothers, John Gomes and Manuel Gomes, both of New Bedford; two sisters, Anna Mendes of New Bedford and Ida Monteiro of Brockton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the brother of the late Lucy Ann Gomes, James Gomes, Dominga Gomes, Mary Rosario, and Jenny Gonsalves.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday June 17, 2005 at 10:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visitation will be Friday morning 9:30-10:30AM, prior to the Service.
