Roberta Muriel (Murdoch) Carr, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016.
She was born September 27, 1927 in Everett, the daughter of the late Robert Henry and Mildred Doris (Eastman) Murdoch. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett F. Carr in 2010, a son, Gregory Steven Carr in 1952, a half-sister; Juanita Conroy and a nephew Bruce Conroy.
Roberta graduated from Everett High School in 1946 and the New England Deaconness Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She practiced her profession at Lynn Memorial, Hunt Hospital(Danvers), retiring as head nurse from Northeast Regional Red Crosss Blood Services in 1987.
She was a member of Mt. Burnet Order of the Eastern Star in Danvers, now merged with Tontoquon Chapter # 100 at Wakefield and Everett Assembly Order of Rainbow Girls. She attended First Methodist Church in Everett, West Congregational Church in West Peabody, First Congregational Church in Randolph Center, VT. and various services held at the Overlook Chapel in Charlton.
She participated in Art Vermont and continued a connection to her nursing profession, volunteering at the Gifford Medical Center Auxiliary in Randolph, VT.
Roberta leaves three children: Everett G. Carr of Ashland, MA., Lauren P. Rodier of Edgewood,NM., and Joyce E. Butterworth of Penacook, N.H.
Five grandchildren: Sara M. Burleson, Bridget C. Butterworth, Meredith Roberta Carr, Aaron J. Murdoch, and Elizabeth J. Winer.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to: John Warren Lodge Masonic Angel Fund, 6 Main St., Hopkinton, MA. 01748. This fund provides immediate emergency assistance to a child while waiting for child services involvement.
A Memorial and Visitation will be held at the James C. Nicholl, Jr. Chapel, Overlook Masonic Life Care Community, 88 Masonic Home Rd., Charlton, MA. on Sunday, February 21, 2016, Starting at 3PM.
The ROBERT J. MILLER-CHARLTON FUNERAL HOME, 175 Old Worcester Rd., is assisting the family with arrangements.
