Henry Samuel Cox, 55, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 5 PM, Friday, January 22, 2016 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Terry Cole officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 7 PM. Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Fairbanks Cemetery in Fairbanks, Florida, with the Rev. Eric Benson officiating.
Mr. Cox was born March 29, 1960 in Gainesville, Florida, to the late C. M. & Myrtle Bryant Cox. He moved to the community in 1996 from Alachua, Florida. He worked with paper recycling at Sunnydale Training Center in Ocilla. Mr. Cox’s favorite saying was “ When I grow up, I want to be a fireman”. He was a member of Monteocha Baptist Church.
He is survived by his siblings: Sheila & Donald Branch of Ocilla, Pamela & Larry Winfree of Fitzgerald, Michael Cox of Medina, Ohio, William & Ada Cox of Starke, Florida, Paul Cox of Fairbanks, Florida, Ira & Danny Harrell of Archer, Florida and Billie Mejia of Branford, Florida; a sister-in-law: Annalee Smith of Starke, Florida and a special friend, who was like a sister, Sheila Hall of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother: Christine Cox and a brother: Thomas “Smitty” Smith.
