Obituary

Brian Scott Hilbert, 33, of 13 Marla Ave., died in Lebanon, CT on Saturday.

He was born in Westerly on July 16, 1971 the son of Betty and David Doucette of Ledyard. He graduated from East Lyme High School in 1990. Brian was a Marine Corps Veteran with four years of duty. During his first year he was in Okinawa, Japan and was deployed to Somalia for the restore hope operation. He was stationed at Camp Leguene, NC. He was chosen to go on a Med. Float and was ranked E-4 (Corporal) and was twice given the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon as well as a Certificate of Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a joint Meritorius Unit Award. He was honorable discharged in 1995.

He was employed by Enterprise and a member of the Pipefitters Union. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and loved the outdoors.

He was predeceased by his father, James Hilbert; his grandfathers, Charles Campo and Norman Hilbert, and a cousin, Wilkie John Platt. In addition to his parents, Brian is survived by his daughter, Adine Maria and her mother Jessica; a grandmother, Betty Campo of No. Stonington; uncle & aunt Tom & Shirley Campo of Old Lyme;; Uncle Jim Campo of No. Stonington; uncle & aunt Wilkie & Norma Platt of NY; a brother, Norman Hilbert & wife Carrie and brother Christopher Hilbert and wife Kelly, all of Harpers Ferry, WV; sister Tracy Traystman and husband Seth of Ledyard, sister Michelle McCracken and husband Bill of Montville, and a sister, Bethanne Murphy and her husband Kane of DesMoine, IA.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic, on Friday at 10am. The Rev. Mark Porizky, Pastor of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Groton will officiate. Burial is private. There are no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for a trust fund to benefit his daughter be sent c/o his parents at 13 Marla Ave., Ledyard CT 06339.
