James H. McKenzie, Jr., 87, of Londonderry, NH, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH. He was born in Somerville, MA on April 11, 1928, a son of the late James and Elvira (Covert) McKenzie, brother to the late Frances Owens, Mary Wallace, Alice Hinze and William Mckenzie. James had been a resident of Londonderry for the past 15 years, formerly living in Somerville, MA.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Grace McKenzie of Londonderry; two sons, Charles L. Smith, Jr. and his wife Michele of Derry, James H. McKenzie, III of Londonderry; three daughters, Mary Kardonsky of Londonderry, Sandra T. McKenzie of Londonderry, Michelle DiNatale and husband Anthony of Melrose, MA; six grandchildren, Maria Smith and her husband Raul Krauss, Letitia Borelli and her husband Frank, Elisabeth Veno and her husband Ryan, Charles L. Smith, III, Sondra Dumont and her husband Francis, and Darcie Kardonsky; four great-grandchildren Gavin Dumont and the late Austin Dumont, Genessa Kardonsky and Frederick Charles Borelli as well as several nieces and nephews. James served in the Korean War and was known for his sense of humor and love of chocolate and coffee.
Memorial services were held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s fund, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry are assisting the family with arrangements.
