TINLEY PARK, IL – Norman A. Belisle, 94, a longtime resident of Ludger Avenue in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at the Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, Illinois surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on August 22, 1921, a beloved son of the late Louis T. and Lillian A. (Goddu) Belisle. In 1924, his family moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee where he lived until 2013. He then moved to live with his son, Edward and his wife, Georgette and their family in Tinley Park, IL. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps with the 232nd Army Air Force Base Unit where he attained the rank of Corporal. He received the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. Following his military service, he returned to Chicopee and was employed for over 33 years for the City of Chicopee Department of Public Works and retired in 1982. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. He was a member of the Aldenville American Legion Post 337, the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11. Most of all, he was a wonderful man who loved his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Blanche R. (Forcier) Belisle who was Called Home on July 1, 1997; his loving son, George L. Belisle who was Called Home on February 22, 2013; and his dear brother and sister-in-law, Raymond F. Belisle who was Called Home on July 21, 2003 and his wife, Rita M. (LeBel) Belisle who was Called Home on February 23, 2003. He leaves his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Edward A. Belisle and his wife, Georgette, of Tinley Park, IL with whom he lived; his loving daughter-in-law, Debbie Belisle of New Manchester, WV; his three cherished grandchildren, Julie Cooper and her husband, Jeremy, Andrew Belisle and Michelle Piantek and her husband, Jeffrey; cherished great-grandchildren; and many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Belisle and Forcier families. His funeral will be held on Monday morning January 18, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee.
