Obituary

Michael J. Szymanski passed away peacefully at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham. He was 92. Born and raised in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Michael and Valentina (Bocan) Szymanski. He enlisted in the army and served with the 150th Engineers Battalion and participated in the Normandy, Ardennes and Rhineland Campaigns. He came back to civilian life and was married to Pauline (Storlazzi) and settled in Medford to raise their family. Michael enjoyed a long career as an engineer. A holder of several patents, He was involved in the design of many military and space projects during his years with Lincoln Labs, Raytheon and several other large firms. He was devoted to his family and was a good neighbor and friend to many.

Predeceased by his wife Pauline and daughter Theresa Whelan, he leaves his children: Linda D’Olympio and her husband Bob of Tampa, Florida, Michael J. Szymanski, Jr and his wife DJ of Framingham, Patricia Fitzgerald of Millis, Ann Marie Silvio and her husband Steven of Medford. Michael also leaves eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson, Jack.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Saturday, January 16th at 11 AM and will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit Saturday morning from 9 thru 11.
