Josephine "Auntie" Maranto, 91, of Wareham died on Monday, January 11. Sister of Anna Pipitone, Joseph Maranto, the late Jennie Grillo and Margaret Gentile. Affectionately known as Auntie by 49 nieces, nephews, great, and great great nieces and nephews.

Josephine had a long career in the financial services industry and ultimately held the position of Vice President of Investment Operations for the prestigious Wall Street Broker-Dealer Solomon Brothers at a time when few women were found on the Equity Trading Sales Floor. She had a reputation on the “Street” as tough but honest. In her free time she travelled the world extensively.

Originally from the West End of Boston, she lived in Somerville for many years. She summered and eventually retired in Wareham where she enjoyed the company of her beloved family and friends.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 16, in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 11 AM.
