George Hartford Murch, 81, of Franklin died January 11 in the Franklin Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Anastasia) Murch for the past 58 years.
Born in Boston, October 7, 1934, the son of the late Hartford and Beatrice (Coombs) Murch, Mr. Murch was raised in Dorchester and had lived in Franklin for the past 50 years.
George had been a printer by trade. He had worked for Starburst Printing and Graphics in Holliston and prior to that had worked for several other printing companies in the Greater Boston area.
George had organized the Saturday morning coffee club at Central Park Terrace
for the past several years. Mr. Murch served in the Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of PFC.
He had enjoyed collecting coins.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Peggy Holland and her husband Dan of Franklin, Laura Thomas and her husband Jeff of Upton, Lisa Bassignani of Uxbridge and BobbieJo Murch of Bellingham , and son - in- law Alan Gerard of Franklin.
He was the father of the late Nancy Guerard and father – in - law of the late David Bassignani.
He is also survived by his sister - in - law Lucy Murch of Kingston and was the brother of the late Kenneth Murch.
George is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicole, Sophia, Stacey, Gianna, Karen and Brianna.
His calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 16 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin from Noon -3: 00p.m.
