Robert Anthony “Nipsie”
Martinez went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on January
8, 2016 after complications due to ongoing health issues.
He was born in Oxnard, California on April 6, 1963, where
he was a lifelong resident.
Robert attended Our Lady of Guadalupe through 8th
grade and completed his high school years at Santa Clara
High School where he got the nickname “Nipsie.” He went
on to attain his Associates of Arts degree at Oxnard College.
Robert worked at several jobs starting in high school. For
the past 29 years he worked at Port Hueneme School District and for over 9 years was the Assistant District Manager
for grounds and custodial.
Coaching sports was a favorite time in Robert’s life. He
was the coach within the community for over two decades.
He coached flag and youth football, little league softball,
and basketball. He also had the privilege of coaching a few
of his nieces, nephews, and daughters, as well as local after
school programs.
Robert loved people, especially his family. As a very young
child he would say, “I love my family,” and to the very end he
did! He was kind, caring, very affectionate and considerate
of others. Everyone who knew him loved him.
Robert was preceded in death by his father Tony Martinez
and brother Michael Anthony. He is survived by his wife
of 20 years, Dolores Barretto Martinez; daughters Felisha
Delgadillo Lopez (Jose), and Erika Acosta; mother Gloria
Martinez; brother Tony and sister Laurie; grandchildren
Julius and Elias Acosta, and Sofia Lopez; multiple nieces and
nephews; and lifetime friends Jose Valdez and Gary Pinedo.
A special thank you to Deacon Donnie Pinedo for all his care
and support during these trying times.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours Wednesday January 13, 2016 from 4 to 8pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, 757 E.
