Joseph Paul Morin

Paul Morin passed peacefully at Community Hospice Center in Merrimack on Thursday January 7, 2016 after living courageously with prostate cancer for nearly eighteen years. As he lived his life, Paul was a model of strength, dignity and perseverance through the course of his many treatments, some of which were clinical trials that helped to further the understanding and treatment of the disease. Paul was loved and respected by many, and set a wonderful example of how to live life fully despite his illness.
Paul began his career under the direct leadership of Paul H. Harvey at Harvey Construction Company, Inc. for 17 years. He started his own business in 1987, which later formed into Morin Contracting Services, with his son Dan in 1998. Paul approached his work with an unparalleled passion for excellence and ethic, and remained active in the business up until the very end.
During his lifetime, Paul had many achievements, to mention a few, he taught blueprint reading and construction drafting at the NH Technical College for 12 years. He was active in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years. Paul was a Cub Scout Leader at Troop 110 in Manchester, was an assistant coach at West Little League, donated his time to the St. John the Baptist Food Bank and was a board member at the Belknap Mill Society in Laconia.
Paul was most content spending time on his boat on Lake Winnipesaukee. He was always willing to take people out and share in the activities and setting of this beautiful lake. He also enjoyed taking cruises with his wife and close group of “cruising buddies” and had some wonderful adventures on the high seas and foreign ports. He and his wife were able to take the trip of a lifetime to France in 2013. Paul was an avid fan of the Boston area sports teams and enjoyed making trips to Fenway Park where he treated his family to unforgettable memories. He was looking forward to the remainder of the Celtics season, as they are “showing promise,” as well as another Patriots playoff run. Please keep him in your thoughts as you cheer along.
Paul’s greatest accomplishment was his absolute, unconditional love and loyalty to family. Family meant the world to him. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, cousin and uncle. His love and support for the challenges of life, both good times and bad, was ever-present and unyielding, and went past his immediate relations to a large extended family on both sides of his marriage. Paul loved family gatherings and larger reunions, and was known to make a speech or two about the importance of family and staying in touch.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Maheux), and four children: Renee and her husband Kenneth Lindley, Christine Morin, Joel and his wife Marie Morin, and Daniel and his wife Michelle Morin. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Rachel and Samantha Lindley, Madison Morin-McCloskey, Holton and Paxton Morin, and soon to be born Harper June Morin.
Calling hours are Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Andre Bessette Parish – Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 10 a.m.
