Alexandrina "Babs" (Costa) Mulroy, 75, of New Bedford died Thursday, January 7, 2016 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital with her children by her side. She was the wife of the late James D. Mulroy.
Born in Dartmouth, the daughter of the late Louis and Maria (Martins) DaCosta, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Mulroy was formerly employed by Rossi and Homlyke bakeries for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed watching sports on TV, and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. She lived for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them all very much.
Survivors include a son, Kevin J. Mulroy and his wife Jane; three daughters, Brendalee Mulroy-Donaghy and her husband Bill, Joann Teixeira and her husband Douglas, and Kym Marie Mulroy; two brothers, Herman Costa and Raymond DaCosta; two sisters, Anne Crabtree and Delores Abelha; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven at 9 AM. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
