He and his family moved to Elkhart, Indiana where he attended Jimtown High School in Baugo Township, Indiana for 11 ½ years. He didn’t graduate from Jimtown because his family moved to Northridge, CA in the middle of his senior year. He received his Bachelor degree from University of Southern California, majoring in Business Administration in 1976 while working at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank and raising a family.
In 1970 he met his future wife, Pamela. He had recently been discharged from the Army in March after serving in Germany. Si and Pam were married on May 8, 1971 – They would have 2 children - Silas William III and Gwendolyn Susanne.
Throughout his life, Si had a passion for everything that had to do with food... from it’s creation in planting his garden, preparing, serving and most of all entertaining. He also enjoyed the outdoors - camping with his family, fly-fishing and deep sea fishing on his 43 foot, 1965 Chris-craft Constellation.
Si is survived by his wife Pamela, daughter Gwendolyn and her husband, Dean Beville, son Silas William Mathews III and his wife, Celia, and 2 grandchildren - Madeline Susanne and Silas William Mathews IV.
