Obituary

LEICESTER: Thomas Busher Purdy, 90, of Maple Street died Monday, Jan 4 in his home after a long illness.
His wife Lorraine O. (Gauthier) Purdy died in 1995. He leaves two sons; Thomas B. Purdy, Jr. of Worcester and David M. Purdy and his wife Gina Colorio of Lexington, NC, two daughters; Diane L. Woodman and her husband Steven with whom he lived and Suzanne F. Purdy-Vashugin and her husband Yury of Holden, 12 grandchildren; Steven, Michael, Michelle, Andrea, Joshua, Anthony, Eva, Gabriel, Noah, Olivia, Alexander and Christopher, 7 great-grandchildren; Kyle, Allyson, Robert, Samantha, Tristram, Malachi and Franchesca, two brothers; Howard Purdy of Gainsville, FL and Richard Purdy of Prospect Park, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by three brothers; Ross, David, Samuel and a sister Emma.
Mr. Purdy was born in Chester, PA, son of Ross and Dagna (Taft) Purdy. He graduated from Glen-Nor High School in Norwood, PA and Worcester School of Business in 1953. He served his country during WW II in the United States Marine Corp. and participated in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a produce manager at Big D Supermarket for many years retiring in 1987. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and creating his own soups from leftovers, walking, sitting in the sun, whistling, watching Jeopardy and Pastor Murray, reading his bible daily and stimulating his mind with current events. He loved spending time with his family.
Calling hours are Thursday, Jan. 7 from 4:00-5:45 PM with a family led prayer service at 5:45PM in MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester will be private at the convenience of the family.
