Obituary

Anthony J. Spinazola, of Wilmington formerly of Revere and East Boston passed away peacefully, Monday, January 4, 2016, at his home following a short period of declining health. He was 83 years of age. Anthony was the beloved husband of Sandra K. (Tursi) and together they shared 56 years of marriage. Born in East Boston, Anthony was one of seven children of the late Giuseppe and Giovanna (Aceto) Spinazola.

Anthony was born and raised in East Boston. He proudly and honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Following his return home the service he married the love of his life, Sandra, and together they eventually settled in Revere where they brought three beautiful children into the world and made a loving home for their new family. Anthony worked for the United States Postal Service for nearly forty years prior to his retirement and moved to Wilmington eleven years ago. He was a hardworking man and always loved to keep busy whether at work or at home woodworking or doing different odd jobs around his house. He was an avid Boston sports fan and especially enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. However his greatest joy was his family. He cherished spending time with them and keeping up on all the activities and accomplishments of his grandchildren, whom he adored and was so proud of. He will be greatly missed.

Anthony is sadly predeceased by his daughter, Tracy Spinazola, and siblings, Louise Twomey, Mary Spinazola, Eleanor Squillicoti, Albert and Robert Spinazola.

In addition to his beloved wife Sandra, Anthony is lovingly survived by his children; Zoeann Restuccia and her husband Joe of Malden, Michael Spinazola and his wife Lynda of Wilmington. He was the loving grandfather of Anthony and Michael Restuccia, Steven, Jamie and Christopher Spinazola. He is also survived by his sister, Angelina Crumley of Saugus and cherished pet dog, Rocky

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 374 Main St., Wilmington, Monday, January 11th, at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and visit with the family prior to the service from 3 thru 7 p.m. Interment services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Anthony's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, New England Chapter, 60 Walnut St., Suite 103, Wellesley, MA 02481.
