BEVERLY: Edward Alan Southerton, 21, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at his home following a long, courageous battle with heroin addiction.
Born in Beverly on January 19, 1994, he was the beloved son of Cameron M. Wicker and the late Alan J. Southerton who died when Edward was an infant.
Edward was a lifelong resident of Beverly and attended Beverly public schools. He loved his most recent job working as a chef at Oceanview Assisted Living where he loved interacting with the residents. He always tried to go the extra mile to make someone’s day a little brighter.
In addition to his mother, Edward is survived by two brothers, Thomas J. Southerton of Lowell and William M. Southerton of Beverly; his uncle, Thomas G. Wicker, Jr. and his wife, Sarah A. Wicker of Victoria, BC, Canada; his aunt, Sharon Southerton Mahon of Durham, NC; his cousins, Kaytee Southerton Buys of Durham, NC, Stacey K. Wicker and Beatrice W. Closson both of Brooklyn, NY; his step-grandmother, Pamela Hill Wicker of Rochester, VT; his life long friends, James and Jocelyn Norris; his friend and Vietnam Veteran, James Correiro and several relatives in North Carolina, Florida and the United Kingdom. In addition to his father, Edward was also predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Kathleen and Albert Southerton, maternal grandparents, Thomas G. Wicker and Neva McLean and his loving great-aunt, Kathleen C. Wicker.
A celebration of Edward’s life will be held on Saturday, January 9th at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Ocean Street, Beverly at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Edward’s memory to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 4 Ocean St., Beverly, MA 01915.
