Helen Emily (Barkalow) Stamm went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 4, 2016.
She was born on October 29, 1924 to William T. and Amanda Jane (Van Hook) Barkalow in Anderson, Indiana.
Helen was a loving wife, a loving mother and a homemaker. She enjoyed listening to big band music, square dancing, making crafts, traveling and cooking for her family. Some of her specialties were chicken and noodles, apple dumplings and homemade candy.
She attended Faith Church in Anderson and served her Lord by coordinating and serving bereavement dinners. Helen enjoyed making candy to raise money for the church. She also supported the ‘Seasoned Saints’ events.
She is survived by her loving husband of seventy two years, Virgil Stamm; her daughters, Karen (Terry) Stephens of Anderson, Indiana and Connie (Mike) Christensen of Lodi, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, David Chase and friend Tina Owens of Indianapolis, Indiana, Dodi Chase and friend Dede Bollman of Fishers, Indiana, Jimmy (Julie) Christensen of Verona, Wisconsin, Andy (Stefanie) Christensen of Indianapolis, Indiana, Paul (Lindsey) Christensen of Brooklyn, Wisconsin, and Nicole (Mike) Greene of Huntley, Illinois; thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law; Junne Stamm, Dorothy (Jim) Farmer, Doris (John) Kane and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Glen (Virginia) Barkalow and Dick (Virginia) Barkalow; her sister Dorothy (Ralph) Morgan; grandson, Stephen Michael Christensen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Naomi (Bob) Vickers, Orville Stamm, Floyd (Hazel) Stamm, Glenn (Maralene) Stamm, Lewis (Nancy) Stamm and Kenneth Nelson.
We would like to thank Bethany Pointe and Legacy staff for their patience and kindness with Helen for the past month.
Services will be 1 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Walter Weaver and Pastor Carl Lamb officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association.
