Audie Leon Murphy, 62, of Hueytown, Alabama passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 in Alabama. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Murphy at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Murphy will be laid to rest at a later date. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 9, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born July 31, 1953 in Tift County, Mr. Murphy was the son of the late Willie Leon Murphy, who passed away August 22, 2014, and Joyce Cromer Murphy, who passed away September 14, 2013. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Tim Murphy, who passed away October 21, 2014. He attended Turner County High School and was a truck driver. He enjoyed Nascar and all things racing including driving race cars. His favorite pastime was spoiling his grandkids.
Mr. Murphy is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jerry Minshew of Ramsey, Minnesota; a son, Eric Murphy and his fiancé, Karrie York of Hoover, Alabama; four grandchildren, Anna, Courtney, Connor and Austin Minshew, all of Ramsey, Minnesota; a brother, Gary Murphy; and two sisters, Sandy Martenn and Kimberly Briggs.
