Janet Maxine Pomahatch Perry Pope, 72, of Tifton passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Greg Love officiating. Mrs. Pope will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 6, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Deacons of Eastside Baptist Church in Tifton will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Aultman, Trever Schoenrock and members of the Ruth Sunday school class at Eastside Baptist Church in Tifton.
Born April 21, 1943 in St. Paul, Minnesota, Mrs. Pope was the daughter of Maxine Hayman Pomahatch of Tifton and the late Al Pomahatch. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence R. Perry, Sr.; her second husband, Dr. Emmett Newell Pope; a son, Lawrence R. Perry, Jr.; and a brother, Buddy Pomahatch. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Golden Living Center in Tifton and a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Tifton, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday school class.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Pope is survived by a daughter, Maria Aultman Hill of Tifton; a sister, Laraine Autry of Tifton; four grandchildren, Brandon Z. Aultman, Selina Aultman, Shania Schoenrock and Trever Schoenrock; and her special, loving friend, Michelle Bristol.
