Dr. George Edward Commenator, 61 of Derry, NH, died Friday, June 10, 2005 in the Mass General Hospital, Boston, MA. Mr. Commenator was born in Phoenix, AZ on October 6, 1943, a son of George O. Commenator and the late Clara Jane Kunz Commenator. He was a resident of Derry for 22 years, formerly living in Candia, NH. Dr. Commenator was Director, Center of International Exchange for Southern New Hampshire University and Distance Education Instructor of Logic, Business Ethics and Philosophy at SNHU where he had worked for 35 years. He also belonged to the National Assoc. Of Foreign Student Advisors, Kappa Sigma and held various positions at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. He has served on numerous national and regional organizations and has won numerous international, national and local recognitions and awards in international student affairs, but he will be most remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Anne Commenator of Derry, two daughters, Michele A. (Commenator) Delligatti and her husband Michael J. of Columbus, OH, Yvonne M. (Commenator) Marston and her husband Paul J. of North Hampton, NH, a son, Michael A. Commenator and his girlfriend Laura Hapgood of Manchester, NH, his father, George O. Commenator and his wife Kay of Tucson, AZ, two brothers, Carl Commenator and his wife Susie of Springfield, VA, Neil Commenator and his wife Edie of Tucson, a sister, Cathy Manherz and her husband Dennis of Tucson, and his grandchildren, Trevor M. and Emma N. Commenator, Lauren E. and Jack Edward Delligatti and Charlotte Grace Marston. He was predeceased by his mother, Clara Jane Kunz Commenator and a sister, Betty Midkiff.
Following cremation funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 14th at 7:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Friends may call from 5 - 7pm, Tuesday prior to the service in our Derry location. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the George E. Commenator Memorial Fund, c/o Southern NH University, 2400 North River Rd., Manchester, NH 03106. George wishes all to consider being an organ donor. Per his request, all his usable organs will go to the organ bank. Up to 400 people will be helped.
